About Joanna …

I have been in the real estate business for over 30 years. Born and raised in Atlanta Georgia, I graduated from a private, southern school known as Furman University with a French degree… Go Paladins! Out of college I began to build my communication skills by working as a tour guide at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. I then set my sights on real estate. While studying for my license I worked for one of the most predominant builders in Atlanta at the time.

I received my real estate license in 1986 and was then relocated out here to Colorado Springs in 1989. Working in many fields of the real estate world, along with restoring and renting older homes with my husband has built a well-rounded background for myself. Remember the saying “walk the walk and talk the talk”? My experience in renovations and ownership of rental property has allowed me to do just that, and I am always applying that knowledge to my clients and their business with me.

Branching out on my own in 1995 was challenging but yet rewarding. Trying to make a new name for myself in a new city with young kids was not easy! Over the years I have tended to focus on my love of old, historic homes in the downtown area. My goal with Thompson Properties has always been to give my clients the small business feel that focuses solely on their satisfaction. My husband and 4 girls have been very supportive and involved in helping my business become what it is today.

Welcome our newest Broker Associate - Amanda Phan
As a homeowner, property investor, and landlord for nearly 20 years, and a robust background in public safety, I have a deep knowledge and appreciation for the Colorado Springs community. I value the diverse architecture of the late 19th Century through modern-day homes.  This, coupled with the beautiful Pikes Peak backdrop fuels my passion for matching properties with individuals’ unique lifestyles. I have a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and my previous career in emergency management instilled in me a deep understanding of community dynamics, which is vital in real estate transactions. Collaborating extensively with the public, local government, and non-profits, I developed skills that ensure a seamless process for clients whether they’re buying, investing, or selling properties. I’m raising two beautiful teens, and we enjoy hiking, mountain biking, playing pickle ball and attending the many community festivals held each year.  The unique local brewery scene is also a bonus! My commitment extends beyond work; engaging with the natural playground we call home; I echo the desires of families seeking a blend of community and nature. As your realtor, I will listen carefully to your needs and use these experiences to help you sell or purchase a home that meets your lifestyle goals.
